UPenn
The Story
The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) was founded in 1740, evolving from a plan to establish a charity school and house of worship. Benjamin Franklin, a key figure in its founding, spearheaded the transformation into a higher education institution in 1749, leading to the opening of the Academy and Charitable School in 1751. It became one of the eight prestigious Ivy League universities.
